About THE ARTIST
The subject matter of my oil paintings centers on landscapes and seascapes. I am an avid hiker and frequent visitor to tropical locales, and gain inspiration from my travels. I mostly paint in my studio using reference photos I have taken while in nature. I favor a palette knife technique because of the sculptural features it allows.
I love to develop thick layers of paint using a wet-on-wet impasto approach, working in contrasting areas of smooth flow and coarser texture. I am not shy with color. Many of my paintings have saturated colors that express the energy I see and feel. Others reflect softer, more contemplative moments.
