Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park has one of the most beautiful coves I’ve ever seen. It’s been photographed and painted countless times, but there will never be too many artistic renderings of this spot. The white sand, turquoise water, wildflowers, and waterfall onto the beach will beckon you to come visit again and again. Credit for inspiration photo: Kelsa Ropersmith.

This beautiful spot is along the Reversed Peak trail near the snow ponds. The Eastern Sierras peek through the background. I was inspired to paint this scene because it reminds me of a view Monet would paint.

The billowy clouds, energic sea, and frozen lava flows all seem to swirl in unison. I never get tired of watching the sea along this trail in Maui.

This pond at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park in Grand Cayman is reminiscent of Monet’s garden, but in a tropical setting. I was inspired to memorialize our family’s trip to this beautiful spot after seeing an art exhibit featuring Monet.

My artistic journey traveled from pencil and paper sketches to some acrylic expression to my current love of oil paints. I primarily paint the natural environment. All of my paintings are of places or things that hold deep meaning to me. I especially love visiting—and therefore painting—mountains, lakes, oceans, and gardens.
As I reflect on my work to date, it is dominated by summits and tides—there could be no better name for my studio. You will see paintings of my favorite vacation spots in Hawaii, the Sierras, and the high desert, as well as my central coast hometown. I like contrast, bold colors, layers, and texture to depict a certain energy I see and feel.
